Statement:

My work has evolved from an interest centered on the South – the history, traditions, and the rural – to the confluence of technology and globalism within contemporary life. This interest includes questioning notions of beauty, artifice, materialism, nostalgia, and the subtle contradictions that make living in the South a unique experience. My recent work expands upon these themes by combining mixed media, stencils, a systems approach to working, along with traditional modes of painting. Through the use of different media, my narratives, have extended to include more proletarian constructs coupled with reflections on ethics, personal politics, social dynamics, and psycho-social influences.
